Dr. Sergey Macheret, a recognized leader in plasma science and aerospace engineering, is a Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). He earned his M.S. and Ph.D. from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and Kurchatov Institute of Atomic Energy, respectively. Since relocating to the U.S. in 1991, he has held academic roles at Ohio State University, Princeton University, and Purdue University, where he served as a Professor of Aeronautics, Astronautics, and Electrical and Computer Engineering.
In 2006-2014, Dr. Macheret joined Lockheed Martin’s Skunk Works, applying his expertise in advanced plasma technologies. He later founded US Plasma Engineering LLC in 2023. His research focuses on high-enthalpy flows, plasma generation, and magnetohydrodynamics, driving innovation across aerospace and industrial applications. With over 170 publications, 12 patents, and numerous accolades, including the 2022 AIAA Plasmadynamics and Lasers Award, Dr. Macheret’s contributions continue to shape the future of engineering and science.
